The SILO project

The Bureau of Meteorology's SILO pages provide access to a rich array of rainfall, temperature and radiation information both as digital data and map graphics; and weather, drought and seasonal climate outlook products. The Bureau's site also contains access to simulated datasets from their seven day weather forecast models.

The Patched Point Dataset and the Datadrill are NRM&E's contribution to SILO which will have benefit to anyone interested in undertaking quantitative analyses for climatic risk management in agriculture, pastoralism, water resources and natural resources management. Using continuous historical climate sequences with biophysical simulations, research scientists can generate probability distributions of key outputs, such as crop yields, water use, soil loss etc anywhere in Australia for the last 50 - 100 years.
