Seasonal Climate Outlook Message for June to September 2006

The bottom line

SOI Trends Downward Dave McRae, QDPI&F, 07/06/06 The 30 day average of the SOI has continued to fall in value and as of Wednesday the 7th June is minus 11.2. At this time of year a fall of this magnitude is of some concern. Currently there is a 20 to 40% chance of getting above median rainfall for June to August (or depending on how you like to look at things a 60 to 80% chance of getting below median rainfall) for most of the southern third of the state as well as along the central and northern coastal strip. Generally the chance of getting above the long term June to August median rainfall for the rest of Queensland is between 40 to 60%.
